LAGBRAU Full Fall Option (10-day)
Arches National Park
Day 1 of 10 (or Day 1 of 3)
Delicate Arch
Thursday: Day one will begin in Arches National Park. Before midday, those who shuttle across Utah will be dropped off at Devils Garden in Arches N. P. where you will begin riding 23.2 miles back to camp, including 2 loops of 2.2 and 5 miles within the park. There will be plenty of time to hike to some of the more famous arches within the park where more than 2,000 arches exist. Those who drive to meet us in Moab can leave your vehicles at the campsite or your hotel (if you purchased the hotel package) and ride into the park at anytime. If you go all the way to Devils Garden and include the loops it will be about 46.4 miles with the biggest climb within the first half mile after entering the park (see elevation chart below). We will have a rest stop crew there all day at Panorama Point which is very central within the park. All you need to do is mention that you are part of the LAGBRAU to the rangers as you ride past the entry station. The entrance fee is paid from your registration fee, however, if you do have an annual pass or senior's pass please take the time to flash it to the ranger and that will save a little more money—which will to go to the Boy Scouts at the end of the event.

Dewey Bridge
Day 2 of 10 (or Day 2 of 3)
Road to Dewey Bridge
Friday: It is 58 miles from the campsite and back. You will ride alongside the Colorado River in a beautiful canyon which is the daddy to Canyonlands National Park, the grand daddy to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, which includes the famous Lake Powell, and the great grand daddy to the Grand Canyon National Park. It is a beautiful canyon and you get to ride alongside the Colorado River in this canyon for 29 miles one way before turning around to head for home. About half way down the canyon you can rest and enjoy your lunch at the the Red Cliffs Lodge where you must take the time to take in the movie museum downstairs. You will be amazed at the number of movies that have been filmed in the area from John Wayne to Tom Cruise; such as "Thelma and Louise," "Rio Grande" and "Mission Impossible." It's still one of Hollywood's favorite settings. This is not a difficult ride and the only climbing is only as high as the Colorado River's descent.
The Boy Scouts are planning to offer a mountain bike option each day that will be beautiful and not too difficult or dangerous. You may want to take advantage of renting one of the Scout's 60 well maintained mountain bikes for much less than you would in downtown Moab. Plus, you'll get a guided tour by a scout leader and see why Moab is considered one of the most famous mountain bike venues of the world, especially in Europe. Tourists from all over the world flood this area after Labor Day.

Grand View Point
Saturday: Depending on which option you choose, this ride will be either 43 miles, 59 miles or 101 miles. Those who opt for the full century ride will ride 43 miles to the deepest point in Canyonlands National Park called Grand View Point. There is about a 2,000 foot climb. On the way back to camp they will take a 16 mile loop out to Dead Horse Point State Park, which is well worth the effort. Those who want to ride 59 miles will be shuttled to Grand View Point in Canyonlands N.P. in the morning and ride the 16 mile loop into Dead Horse Point State Park on the way back to camp. Those who only want to ride 43 miles will be shuttled to Grand View Point and can skip the 16 mile loop into Dead Horse Point on their way back to camp. The 59 and 43 mile options will be riding mostly flat and downhill with a 2,000 ft drop on the way back to Moab. Ample rest stops will be strategically placed along the route this day as well as the other days.

Moab to Green River
Day 1 of 7 (or Day 4 of 10)
Moab to Green River
Sunday: Ride 50 miles from Moab campsite to the campsite in Green River which is a state park located on the river. Most of the climbing will be gradual for the first 9 miles out of Moab. We expect many of the riders to only take about a half day for this ride. As an option for the afternoon you may choose to be shuttled up Green River for a popular river raft run of about 2 hours down Desolation Canyon. We will get a group rate of only $20 dollars extra per person. I did this river raft ride in college and I remember some intermediate rapids. It was fun and beautiful!

After lunch, riders will proceed to the famous Hogs Back ridge overlooking the Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument before descending to Calf Creek Falls campground 12 miles away from Boulder.
