Press Release
LAGBRAU II 2005 - "The World's Most Scenic Bicycle Ride"
"A call to peddles" to all capable Utahns to come join
bicycle enthusiast from nearly every state and Canada who have
already registered for the second edition of the "Legacy
Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Utah" Sept. 25 to Oct.
1, 2005.
Is it truly the world's most scenic week-long bicycle ride? Come
and see why nobody from out of state has argued with that presumptuous
quote.
Most Utahns do not appreciate what is right under their noses,
and there is no better way to enjoy it than from the saddle of
their own bicycle. The LAGBRAU is unique in that we will shuttle
the riders from St. George to Blanding before the ride or after,
which enables you to cover twice as much scenery as the loop
rides in Southern Utah. Those coming from the west can leave
their cars in St. George and join those flying into Las Vegas
who will catch the St. George Shuttle to St. George where they
will load their bikes Saturday at 8 a.m. to shuttle to Blanding
at 9 a.m. Others coming from the east will leave their cars in
Blanding, and we will shuttle them back at the end of the week.
Utahns have a choice to leave their cars in St. George or Blanding.
Imagine averaging about 63 miles a day on paved roads that have
received the prestigious designations of State or National Scenic
Byway, and All American Road, while enjoying the scenery of 3
National Parks, 3 National Monuments, 3 National Forests (at
the peak of their fall colors), 1 National Recreation Area, a
variety of ancient Indian ruins and the options of 4 State Parks
including Edge of the Cedars State Park, Petrified Forest State
Park, Kodacrome State Park, and Goblin Valley State Park, which
was recently designated as one of the five most unique state
parks in the country. It is a bicycle ride like no other, a veritable
feast for the eyes. The LAGBRAU is fully supported and includes
7 days of catered meals, park passes, camping fees, entertainment,
sag wagons, medical emergency care, and transportation of camping
gear and bicycles. In addition, the final night, you have the
option of taking in the play, All's Well That Ends Well, at the
famous Cedar City Shakespearean Festival. How appropriate is
that?
A $100 discount is offered to all Utahns until the ride is full.
Normally the LAGBRAU registration fee is $595. Other commercial
rides in Southern Utah that do not cover as much can range from
$700 to $2400 a week. For those who can only sneak away from
work for a day, come join us Thursday evening in Panquitch to
ride through Cedar Breaks National Monument and Dixie National
Forest on Friday, and Zions National Park on Saturday for $180.
If you can break away from work for two days, come join us in
Escalante on Wednesday evening and include the ride to Bryce
Canyon National Park the Petrified Forest State Park, and a shuttle
option to see Kodacrome State Park on Thursday. Enjoy the final
three days for $250. IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER!
* The goal of the LAGBRAU is to raise enough money to hold a
Native American Youth Leadership Conference to help youth-at-risk
find their direction and prepare for productive careers. |
