Legacy Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Utah

A Message from the Director

January 2012

Dear Prospective 2012 LAGBRAUer,

Last year we tried something different in terms of lining up transportation to and from airports such as St. George, Cedar City, and Grand Juncion Colorado which lead to some problems and complaints and limited "puddle jumping" flights. In the few years before we had those flying in go to Vegas and return out of Vegas. The 2.5 hour ride to Vegas at the end wasn't bad, but at least 8 hours of travel in the beginning made it tuff. In the past we even tried breaking that up into 2 days with a beautiful hike in one of the National Parks on the way over. This year we are going to try another option. We will schedule 4-hour shuttles out of Salt Lake City to Moab the afternoon before the ride, and shuttles to Vegas the afternoon after the ride to help facilitate your arrival and departure. One prospective participant checked into flights from a number of major airports and found that it does not cost much more if any to fly into Salt Lake and then out of Vegas ten days or a week later. See the airfare details here. +

One of the beauties of the LAGBRAU is its remoteness, but the biggest challenge of the ride, however, is getting you there due to its remoteness. In the past I have tried to do too much as the ride director/travel agent and have been criticized for it, but I know it is not easy to get down to one end of southern Utah and out of the other end but this point to point ride is worth working at it. This one new option may be the best of all we've tried, with a shorter shuttle in the beginning and the shortest trip to a major airport at the end. Some enjoy scheduling a little extra time in Las Vegas at the end, and this way they still can. We will post the times and dates for this new shuttle option soon. It will cost an extra $100 for this shuttle option. I hope this info is helpful.

Good Luck. I hope you and your group can make it. YOU WILL LOVE IT!

Sincerely,

Les Titus
LAGBRAU Director
